He does talk a lot of shit.
The following statement got my attention. Anyway, very good interview.
“After this fight we’ll see what we do. I’d love to fight Nonito (Donaire) again if he’s ready for me. He hasn’t done much since we fought. If SHOWTIME isn’t interested in that I’ll move up to 122 pounds and keep moving up. "

The sports bar was rammed this evening. Even in defeat Darchinyan draws massive crowds.

He did not draw massive crowds "even in defeat". The crowd was ALREADY there BEFORE his defeat. Now...if he draws "massive crowds" in his next fight...then you have a point.

Now now, you've known me long enough to know I was joking. I believe a 'handful' of people were there to watch UFC. :wink7:

Hopefully this brings an end to the abundance of hype that many still place on this guy. He's not nearly as good as some claim he is. Now that he's lost again, perhaps some will finally put Chad Dawson and Paul Williams where they deserve to be - top 10 P4P.

Paul Williams is #11 and Chad Dawson is #13. The ONLY one I am inclined to move up into my top 10 is Rafael Marquez (who I ranked originally #12 and now I am second guessing that ranking).

That's nice, Vic will be dropping out my top 10 and most others. Decisive losses do matter.

They do IF the fighter is ranked in the lower top 10 and there are other fighters outside the 10 as deserving.
I am more inclined to move Rafael Marquez to top 10.
However...I will wait until October to post my next top 15. Want to give everybody a chance to fight.

Darchinians wins are simply not good enough to overcome his losses to most people. You can post whatever list you want as that is your opinion of course but I don;t expect him to see in any consensus PFP lists.

Rafael Marquez hasn't won a fight of any significance since the first fight with Israel Vasquez. He's 1-2 in his last three.

He is 3-2 in the last four (and was undefeated for 7 years). His two defeats were against the naturally bigger Champ (as Rafael was moving up in weight)...who he made quit.
And his two losses were controversials...one was a quick stoppage in a fight that was going to be stopped in the next round and the other one was a point deduction that denied him of a draw.
Israel is a top 5-6 top fighter. No shame "losing" those two fights.

This is the kind of bullshit comment that pisses me off.
Now you'll say he's always been overrated or some shit.

I currently have Rafael Marquez in my top 10 p4p. Just barely, I believe, and that's where he belongs. Not any higher. Not any lower. There's a number of P4P lists that do not even have him ranked in the top 10 right now. There are an abundance of fighters who probably DESERVE to be in the top 10, and I'm sorry to insult you with such 'bullshit comments' but the ones who WIN the challenging fights that they take and ones who remain ACTIVE are generally placed above those who are not as much. That's only fair.
Since when do you reward fighters for inactivity? :headscratch: The third fight with Vasquez (a losing effort in a great fight) was March of 2008. There's an old expression that goes, "What have you done for me lately?" What the hell has he done since then??? Please answer that question for me; I'd like to know. I think it's generous of me to keep him in the top 10!
Just about all of the guys in my top 10 are active winners who seek challenges and are champions or top contenders.
Looking back at the P4P list on my site, I currently have Marquez at #8. That's pretty damn generous and pretty fair. Although, I will have to update it pretty soon. Hasn't been updated since April.

What Rafael did was the equivalent of Williams moving up and immediatelly facing Pavlik...or Dawson moving up and facing Hayes.
Then winning their respective fight by making their opponent quit...lose their next one (same opponent) by having a referee stop their fight prematurely (especially when the doctor would have stopped their oponent from continuing in the following round)...and then losing their respective third fight due to a one-point deduction.
Hmmmmm....they did not.

val said what i meant. that 1-2 is very deceiving.
this coming against another lb x lber, not some scrubs defeating him.
the victory was a ko, his stoppage was questionable, and the second loss could have gone either way which included a 1 point deduction.
THATS what he's done lately.
who else has done that lately?

Rafael has 1 win over 2 years against a bum no matter how you spin it. While I agree the 3rd fight was close with Vasquez, there was nothing wrong with the stoppage in the 2nd fight. Marquez was fucked up and getting smacked around the ring. He needs to be beat to death I guess? After that type of round they weren't going to stop the fight because of cuts either.

In my lists...I stated that I consider records from today to 2007. If the fighter has less than 5 fights (during that time frame)...then I extended to 2006 (until I reach a fifth fight).
Then of course, I take into consideration how he was ranked in my list previously. I won't drop out of the top 10 a fighter that was ranked top3 and just happen to lost a fight. I won't rank a fighter in the top 3, if he was not part of the top 10 already. That method will ensure that other years were already considered (e.g. Rafael 7 years of success without a lost).
