View Full Version : Bute-Andrade II Preview: Will It Be Different This Time?
Bute-Andrade II!
By Dave Spencer / Fightnews Canada
Golden Boy Promotions’ bid of $1,211,000 beat the $1,195,000 of InterBox, giving the Los Angeles-based promotional powerhouse the right to promote the mandatory defense of IBF super middleweight champion Lucien Bute against Librado Andrade. Bute, who won the first fight on points after controversial ending, will get 75% ($908,250). The bout could land on the September 19 undercard of Mayweather-Marquez in Las Vegas.

How could that piece of shit Bute walk around acting as if he's the champ knowing full well that biased ref saved his ass?
FUCK CANADA!

It'll be a good rematch if Andrade can get to work earlier. He was getting outboxed that whole night til he finally caught him in the 12th. 168 is pretty loaded right now.

Will Marlon "STFU I'm not ashamed of protecting our fighter" Wright be reffing the bout again?

That would be a great place for it. :clappy:

I'm guessing not. Looks like this will be in states and possibly on Mayweather vs Marquez PPV.

It's in Vegas, so it will certainly be a Nevada ref. Marlon Wright won't figure into the bout at all. My pick would be Tony Weeks or Kenny Bayless, either one for not only Bute-Andrade II, but also for Mayweather-Marquez as well.

I agree. That job he did was a disgrace. This fight is in need of Steve Smoger.

Wasn't this match supposed to be on the Mayweather-Marquez undercard in September? Sucks that it is in a Canadian City, where ref Marlon Wright seems to be a favorite son of the IBF. Ridiculous. There is a Canadian law that says that two of the four officials have to reside from Canada. They had better have a neutral ref in there. If they do, all is good.

Marlon! Marlon! Marlon! :grayupset:
Should be a good card. Funeka vs Guzman is a solid co feature.

Bute completely shut out Andrade for 11 1/2 rounds in the first fight. This time around he figures to do the same, and not fall apart in the last round. Bute via outclassing UD.

Not so sure about that. Bute was winded well before the last round.

You'll see Dosta. Bute will outclass him this time around.
Bute isnt the most exciting fighter, but he's very good. A tall southpaw with good speed, and very good technical skills, and above average power.
Sadly... based on how piss poor Kess looked in the face of Ward's skills... I'd prob make Bute a fav over Kess.

Bute wins easy if he has the stamina. However I noticed him wearing down well before a lot of people. he was winded well before the last round. If you can rewatch the fight, Bute was getting tired a couple rounds earlier than round 12.

I did notice that, but I have a hunch he'll perform better this time.
History shows that more times than not after a brawler beats, or nearly beats a boxer in the 1st fight after coming from behind... usually the boxer schools him in the rematch. We saw it in the Dawson-Johnson rematch, and we'll see it here too.

I'd be leaning towards Andrade by stoppage this time around, if only the fight was not once again in Canada. IMO, it's a farce that the rematch will be there as well given the controversial ending of the first fight. Andrade is going to have to get started early. He can't wait 9 or 10 rounds for Bute to get tired.

The fight is once again in Canada. I'm leaning towards Bute. I also think he'll be a bit more weary of Andrade's power. I think Bute will go into this rematch with every intention of winning a decision and nothing more. He won't try to KO Andrade (he's too tough) and he won't put himself in harms way either. He'll pace himself, try to win on points, and that makes it very difficult for Andrade to have the same success he had at the end of the first fight.

I read somewhere that Canadian law says that two of the four officials must be from Canada. Marlon Wright and Gerry Bolan are considered the most experienced Canadian refs at the world title level. So that means if they opt for a neutral ref, they would have two Canadian judges. The deck is stacked against Andrade again.

That's most likely what will happen, but a part of me will be rooting for the unlikely Andrade KO.

The last time they fought the ref saved Bute. Expect Andrade to remember that and jump on Bute right from the get go. I think Andrade has a very good shot at finishing this time around.

On Andrade-Bute I, I saw a still shot that Showtime never picked up. It shows Andrade several feet out from the corner giving evidence to the ref's case. If your a visiting fighter, you don't want to give ANY hometown ref a chance to use something to your disadvantage. It is clear that the ref should have been more concerned about a new comatose Bute in the corner rather than where Andrade was standing at that point in time. It wasn't like Andrade could have done any damage to Bute despite moving away from the corner.

99.99% of the time, the ref doesn't notice because he's in the wounded fighters face, checking his eyes, his response, and his awareness.
in this case, being from canada, he happened to look over there giving his guy more time to recover.
that evidence of yours is a crock of shit. stop trying to justify the unjustifiable.

Oh MF,
I am not AGREEING with how Marlon Wright handled it at all! I am just saying that people forget that there was a still photo of Andrade several feet from the corner that Showtime's cameras did not show. You're "right" though (LOL!) Marlon should have been looking at how badly Bute was hurt, NOT making a big case that Andrade was not "exactly" in the corner. Plus the fact that he kept warning Andrade for almost every clinch or hold, while Bute was only warned like once in the 10th or 11th round showed his hometown bias.
Unfortunately, as Quebec law mandates, there are two Canadian judges at last check and one New Jersey judge. (World title fights in Canada have to have two of the four officials home-court represented.) They might have workarounds, but I don't think so.
The ref is Benji Estaves of New Jersey.

It would be absolutely ridiculous to have this fight anywhere but Quebec. It's actually a draw there, over 15000 tickets were sold.
