The first day of Summer is around the corner. Just wanted to see how you big, chubby, candy asses are doing with the workouts?

Flex= :muscle:

You guys still training on malt liquor and twinkies?

Who is at the place they want right now.

Also, I've really mixed my workouts. Two days of upper body, two of lower body, One day of swimming, two days of biking.

I'm through with bodybuilding, it's for metrosexuals. On Pavel Tsatsouline's power to the people program now. Aiming for at least a 400lb dead and 180 press by the end of the year while staying at 175lb. :muscle:

I try to workout everyday. I consider running or swimming an active rest day. The least I'd ever do would be walking for about 30 to 60 minutes at night.

No. My diet is real tight. I got into the habit when I was competing of eating very healthy. I always walked around at just about weight. Now, I can't eat junk food. I have no stomach for it. If I eat McDonalds or something like that because I am pressed for time. I get sick to my stomach!

where? everywhere...google him. I just wanted something real simple that would get me stronger, fairly quickly. It's low volume dead lifting and pressing 5 days a week and putting weight on the bar whenever possible. Low tech and to the point.

Cheers Flex, Greenie and Hut*hut (incidentally, Hut*hut, should you get lonely in the night I sleep in the attic of the Old Chateau... there's no pressure :wink7: ).

This is the routine I've followed:

Tue & Fri
Calve Raise 3 x 15
Widegripped Pullups 3 x max
Lat Pulldowns 3 x 8
Heavy Row 3 x 8
Crosstrainer 15 mins
Running Machine 15 mins
Dips 3 x 10 (weighted 20kgs)
Military Press 3 x 8

Thu & Sun
Benchpress 3 x 8
Flyes 3 x 8
Inclinepress 3 x 8
Tricep pushdown 3 x 8
Crosstrainer 15 mins
Running Machine 15 mins
Biceps Curl 3 x 10
General Light Abs Exercises

Have been to the gym 77 times this year (so, over 3 times a week). Am weighing in at 86kgs (190lbs), 6' tall, 44" chest and 32" waist. My lats are like a shield of steel... but, as per my last update, I still have an unfeasibly small weiner.

I''ve eaten and drunk pretty well what I've wanted but I have tried to control portion sizes and stick to a healthy, balanced diet most of the time. I live in Munich so t'is v easy to sink beers of an evening... that's why I do so much cardio.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh 86kg too lol. You look bigger then me.

But seriously you look in great shape. I'm getting in good shape. I've always been slender but have bulked up from 80kg to 86kg. Mostly muscle. My goal is 90kg. Consistant gym work and eating a lot of good food is the key.

Cheers Greenstone. The weight disparity may be because of genetic bone density - I may look bigger but perhaps do not have as strong or heavy bones as thee?

Your aims are v realistic and hopefully you'll achieve them by the end of (your) winter... 1kg per week is possible but 0.5kg of quality size should mean you can make that within 8 - 12 weeks? What I find difficult is the balance between weight training and cardio - cardio makes me look and feel better but it doesn't half throw out my lifts and weight gain!

I also find that consistency is the key, It's amazing how quickly you can lose your form just by dropping a few sessions regularly over a few weeks. That's why so many folks remain static - they want to go 3 times a week but fool themselves in to believing that a missed session here and there won't hurt. If you only make it to the gym twice a week then you're treading water and won't move forward. However, it does at least maintain the frame and is better than nowt.

I was actually 95kgs back in 2005 :eeeeeky: But my training only involved 40 minute sessions of heavy lifting compound exercises - I became v blocky w/ bulk but had a round face and slab-like muscles. My arms were about 18" around but my veins had disappeared and there was little definition.

Greenie - I use myself as the screensaver too (j/k)

Well my goals this year were to NOT deteriorate too much.
1st pic was taken on x-mas eve...a few days after surgery to repair ligaments/cartilage in my wrist. 2 weeks of the soft cast, followed by 5 weeks of hard cast...then a brace for 4 more and even now I use a wrap when doing anything strenuous.

Not much lifting for upper body (though my calves have never looked better )

So I am hypercritical of myself since I know what its like to be in great shape (as a young man). But my wife snapped the 2nd pic last weekend to point out how i look in comparison to other guys my age (i blurred his face to protect the flabby).

So I am still not happy...arms looking a bit thin...but she made me feel better anyway

I've been working the traps and shoulders more to balance out. I am just shy of 18" on my biceps and I am close to getting my waist from 31" back to 30" . Still about 205lbs. I have also increased my weights. I know I shouldn't, I really don't take time off. I also mix in the boxing/Martail Arts gym, with biking, swimming and other workouts. SO, I need to go on holiday soon and train only on tequila and rich foods!

18" biceps is what I would like to achieve, once again, but this time solid muscle. When I took creatine my biceps reached that hallowed size but there was no definition and a lot of water retention... looked great streching out the shirt sleeves though.

I have pretty big, defined triceps which are two thirds of the bulk anyway but in recent months I have neglected the biceps as I considered them puny next to the tri's.

What leg work do you do? I only do two exercises - squats and calves - I'm sure I should do more but I can't stand leg work. I do a lot of hiking/ cycling and that is enough for me.

You can never go wrong with squats, but most people hate them obviously. I remember one time when a friend of mine tried to push me to go the absolute max on squats. I ended up pulling a back muscle and barfed afterwards.

IMO, body weight squats combined with lunges are very underrated. If one does them right, they burn the shit out of the quads and hams.
