Ok seriously, without smacktalking, I just don't get all this Ricardo Lopez stuff, what's so great about a tall midget beating on shorter midgets?
I mean he had exceptional height for a guy of that weight, staying at strawweight and never challenging da best at flyweights reeks of chicken shit.

Regardless of how tall he was he made weight easily, nothing chicken shit about fighting at a weight that you make easily. Funny I can't win with you guys. Why did I like him? Beautifull tecnique and it was great to watch.

So you like dead journeymen rednecks?
I just loved the guy, met him personally, and I followed his carreer...his fights with Stone and Stephens were great and he had a match in the works against Trinidad...He may have lost against him but he would have gone out in the same vein as Corrales. He gave it his all and would snatch victory from the jaws of defeat after getting beat pillar to post. Charasmatic, redneck, and the fucker could fight.
You need characters like the ones in my list to make boxing compelling. Chavez and MAB don't have the greatest charisma outside of the ring, but inside they're magic.
Tyson, Eubank, and Hughes were great personalities in and out of the ring. I lived and died with those five fighters in a way I'll never be able to do with another fighter again.
My youth in the late 80's to early 90's allowed me to root unabashadly for those guys. They're my favorite because when they won it felt great and when they lost it hurt. As an adult I don't think I can ever recapture that sense of loyalty.
Some aspects of growing up are a shame.

You're a sweetheart, you know that!!
FYI - Marquez' win was way closer than Floyds win over Oscar AND Barrera is really, really old in Boxing years but you don't hear Rebel bashing Marquez for that, the way he does Floyd. That's how you know Rebel is full of it.
That's why we don't agree on things.
People here don't know that in real life you are a real sweetheart, they only see you trying to defend Rebel. The only problem is that you don't know the background on some of the stuff that you are trying to defend.

If you're really interested, you should. He said that yyou had potential.
I think I'm too old...I did some sparring a couple of weeks back and I got worked over by a kid...I had burns on my shoulders and chin...he was peppering me for all three rounds.
I landed one good shot that kept him on his toes though, but other than that I was piss poor.

Brazier? .. Why?
Why Brazier? Good question. Besides his obvious fistic abilities Joe Louis will always be in my favorite list because Joe Louis was the epitome of a champion. Likewise Brazier in my opinion would be the epitome of a prizefighter. He fit the true definition of a prizefighter. Harold Brazier never whined, Harold Brazier never entered the ring out of shape and entered any ring anywhere without fear. Any ring anywhere and often. in your own backyard. Harold Brazier at times was fighting twice a month and looked damn good doing it. Check out his record ain't a lot of fighters that got over on Brazier. He was true to his profession and more importantly to his craft, Brazier could flat out fight. As they say here sometimes "Man come up in ya yard and cut ya ass" He was a half level below the best of his time and there is a certain segment of the Boxing public that will tell you with a shake of the head that Brazier got robbed that night against Roger Mayweather. I loved watching Brazier fight, Brazier was the fighter , more than any other fighter that taught me about experience. It was because of Harold Brazier that I told you all before it happened that Tito Trinidad was going to ruin Reid and Vargas. I'd sit back and watch Brazier going up against some opponent thats on a roll got a lot of raw talent, packs a good punch had a few fights 20 maybe and there is Brazier in the other corner in tip top shape, fighting once a month had three or four times as many fights and he would just come out and box the ears off the other guy to the point it became a cross between some thing that was painful and a joy to watch at the same time. Nothing flashy, simple shit, a little shuffle step here, a half feint half hook there, a little step away right hand and you could almost see the opponent think to himself "oh shit". Brazier fought a fighter once that I absolutely detested, a fighter by the name of John Wesley Meekins., anyway I was hoping for a Brazier victory and in all fairness Brazier was a little off and the fight was a draw after the fight the announcer asked Brazier why he was a little off and Brazier said because he was rusty he hadn't fought in two months.
I tip the cap to my man, I realize that there aren't a lot of people here that remember him, and a good portion who never even heard of him, but there is one person here that appreciates him, for what he brought to the game and for always bringing his game because he knew that if you didn't bring it with you, you weren't going to find it there. That's why Harold Brazier makes my list.

I loved watching Brazier fight, Brazier was the fighter , more than any other fighter that taught me about experience. huh ? :eeeeeky:
i never woulda picked that in a million years. it begs the question....WHY ? :headscratch:
I love the guy, probably more for his out of the ring actions. He's educated, personable, humble yet uses his celebrity status for many alturistic purposes. I don't like these wanna-be ganstas like Zudah who are as middleclass as it gets but act like they're from the hood. Besides, as a fighter he's quire compelling; he knocks guys the f**k out, but you never know if he's gonna get flattened himself, kinda like Tommy Morrison.

:headscratch:
Yeah, but he was so skinny (with his tall height), that he was shit-on-a-stick compared to the stocky, 5'2" midgets that he up against.
It all evens out.

Yea man, I love guys that have good technique & can put your lights out.
Louis & Trinidad are actually my favorite two in regards to that. I am starting to take a liking to Jermain Taylor also. I think in the future he's going to turn into one of those guys w/ Technique that can close the show w/ a single shot.
